Market Makers..induce liquidity in the market. They establish the sell/buy price in the market. In penny stocks the price can be manipulated tremendousley by them to create either a low price or high depending on motivation. There is a tremendous pressure to keep the price down. Lots of other factors, but in a nut shell. I believe there is a shortage of stock with negative shares. When a stock goes up, the MM's end up buying at market price..This is where will be tomorrow!
