They are a CIA sponsored program from DARPA that was originally called Lifelog and since CIA cannot spy on American citizens on American soil, they wrapped it up in a big beautiful bow and gave it to a recruited college agent named Greenberg (Now Zuckerberg) to be brought to the private sector under the name Facebook.
Lifelog ended on Feb 4, 2004 Facebook started Feb 4, 2004.
