Ok, but if there were a lot of shorts that sold from the 27th when the volume started coming in, they sold from 33 US$ downwards.

The covering would not have to happen on the open market, because they got 2.9 million shares deliveres for free as we now know from the S1

So if all those 2.9 million where sold short they are now closed by delivery.

If there were additional shorts those would have to cover by buying on the open market, but if the SEC is putting PHUN on the Short Reg List and today the share price goes down another 8% then it does not look as a lot of those shorts would panic.
