Apparently, in my previous post I was a week off with the PBMs testifying before congress. They actually testified this week on April the 3rd. At least some in congress pointed out the negative effect PBMs are having on smaller pharmacies. They pointed out that pharmacies are filling some prescriptions at a loss. Communities are losing their local pharmacists, which is resulting in less competition and lower levels of service overall for patients. The president has already voiced his disdain for these middlemen so the question is: can congress actually act and do something about these people, who nobody really understands or comprehends why they are necessary?
