High-grade gold boost for Strickland Metals

Strickland Metals Ltd managing director Paul L’Herpiniere talked with Proactive about a significant upgrade to the company’s resource at its Rogozna project in Serbia. The latest resource update follows 20,000 metres of drilling in 2023, which delivered an increase of two million ounces gold equivalent. “I can't think of many projects on the planet that you can get this sort of growth for $3 an ounce,” L’Herpiniere said. He highlighted the success of targeted drilling at the Shanac deposit, where only 10 holes were drilled, resulting in a strong uplift in contained metals – including a 17% increase in gold and 38% in copper. Importantly, the drilling delineated high-grade mineralisation zones, which L’Herpiniere said will be the focus of upcoming mining studies. Strickland has now commenced a 50,000 metre drill program, with 30,000 metres allocated to resource drilling at Shanac and Gradina. Gradina, described as the most gold-rich of the four deposits, is expected to deliver a maiden resource later in 2025. The remaining 20,000 metres will target major exploration prospects, including Jezerska Reka and Obradov Potok. With approximately A$30 million in cash and strong geological potential, L’Herpiniere said the company is well positioned for further growth. Tamboran Resources boosts NT gas supply with Arafura deal

Tamboran Resources Ltd CEO Joel Riddle talked with Proactive about the company's newly signed letter of intent (LOI) with Arafura Resources Ltd to supply gas from the Beetaloo Basin. Riddle explained that both companies are based in the Northern Territory, and the agreement supports local strategic projects by providing 25 terajoules (TJs) per day to Arafura's critical minerals project. The agreement aligns with Tamboran’s strategy of prioritising Northern Territory gas use. “We’re a Northern Territory company. We’ve been focused on appraising the Beetaloo Basin now for all 12 years I’ve been in my job,” Riddle said, highlighting the company’s long-term commitment to the region. Riddle also pointed out the environmental edge of Beetaloo Basin gas, which has a CO2 content of about 3%, significantly lower than the 15–20% typically found in other Australian basins. He said supplying this low-carbon gas to the East Coast would help reduce emissions by displacing higher-carbon alternatives. Discussing supply capacity, Riddle compared the Beetaloo to the Marcellus Shale in the US, noting it could provide enough gas to support the East Coast for “hundreds of years”. Tamboran plans to bring 40 TJs per day online in the first half of next year under an existing 15-year agreement with the NT Government. The Arafura deal will add a further 25 TJs daily. Riddle said work is underway with pipeline partner APA to ensure infrastructure capacity. The company aims to finalise a binding gas sales agreement with Arafura soon. Lithium ION Energy secures joint venture with SureFQ to advance Urgakh Naran Lithium project

Lithium ION Energy Limited CEO Ali Haji joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce a binding Joint Venture Agreement with SureFQ for the advancement of the Urgakh Naran lithium project in Mongolia. Under the agreement, ION will retain a 20% free carried interest through to commercial production, ensuring long-term participation in the project's success without additional financial commitments. SureFQ, a firm specializing in sustainable energy solutions and lithium resource development, will leverage its industry expertise and advanced extraction technologies to accelerate the project’s progress. As a strategic investor, SureFQ focuses on developing high-potential assets that support the global energy transition. Haji told Proactive SureFQ will provide $5.5 million in cash considerations to ION over 4.5 years. The company has committed to $8 million in development expenditures for Urgakh Naran over four years. ION Energy will maintain a 2.5% Net Smelter Return (NSR) royalty in perpetuity, ensuring a steady revenue stream from future production.
