They are releasing some of the parts as 1.4GHz Opterons.

Okay, they may be capable of more than that, but there's nothing to suggest it's a particularly narrow range, when the output is being used in parts that range from 1.4GHz to 2.2 GHz, right?

FX would still be necessary, for certain benchmarks:

Higher core speed is not equivalent to doubling the memory bandwidth (even if this double bandwidth has slightly higher latency).
