Initially I think they grew Perch from baby to adult size. Which is not ideal. They have to rotate (buy adult fish and grow them out) to optimize efficiency and profits.
Then the (Mandarin) fish died 1 1/2 years ago. This was supposed to be supply for the indoor tanks. So it screws up the whole planning indoor when 6 months worth of supply suddenly disappears.
Of course rotating fish (on a monthly basis) is the way to go but you need a reliable supply. And they can still do it any time they have such a supply. Preferably eels
I already know the numbers. They can make 2 to 4 times more money by rotating fish compared to growing Vannamei. But it's risky as we pointed out. And now they are using some indoor tanks to support growing Vannamei outdoor (ODRAS) which is a different story.
