I doubt Netflix could afford to pay upfront, the cost of streaming rights for all the shows it carries for the term of their contracts. It makes more sense to make payments on a periodic basis, like any standard leasing agreement.

But, we should know for sure within the next two months. Any additional payment for season 1 of Llama Llama, should show up either in the 10K for 2018 (Q4) or in the Q1 2019 report.
