I’ve seen this happen with a lot of penny stocks with ‘pending’ news. You inflated the ask enough and hit the bid and suddenly people drive the price down. Accumulate & then you let it run.

Several months back no one bothered to stack the ask this much let alone hit the bid (selling for less than their entry)
