I agree with you in terms of the article, my point is that huge job cuts would be counter productive, as the combined organisation would be in a state of chaos.

It would be hard enough, if one of the two parties was on a more financialy sound footing. The sort of Job losses inticated would not help to create a successful business.

I do however agree with the report in the sense they would probably make those sort of cuts anyway, simply because they would have no choice.
