The likely mechanism likely involves electrical
attraction to, and attachment of silicon nitride
particles to oppositely-charged pathogen spores.

Sounds like Magnets or magic or something. Also they didn't target algae or lychens. They attempted to prove antifungal properties and add it to the portfolio. I dont think humans can get lychens but they can get fungemia. This is a twofer. two birds one stone Is how I interpret it.

"silicic acid can increase fungal growth in of itself."
I believe it, right after the magnets or magic. It's good for plants and you can buy it as a supplement. Algae, lychens, fungus, bacteria. Seems like we can classify everything into flora and fauna except virus. Virus cant be classified. I'd classify that into bioweapons.

Probably the worst quality orange juice is a product of Belize. Belize is in the middle of a rainforest. That's like 100% humidity and 80-100 fahrenheit. Its a hot bed for mycology, fungus, lychens, bacteria, molds and algae. Your fighting an up hill battle trying to be a citrus farmer in a tropical jungle. a citrus tree is just free real estate to the jungle organisms. Just one aspect of a microcosm entangled into the global picture. But it demonstrates an extreme.
