AUSTIN, TX / October 17, 2018 / CipherLoc Corporation (OTCQB: CLOK), a leading provider of highly-secure data protection technology, today announced that it has signed an agreement with COACT, Inc., an independent verification and validation services (IV&V) provider, to provide FIPS 140-2 certification testing for CipherLoc’s data security and encryption solutions.
FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) 140-2 is widely recognized as the benchmark for validating the effectiveness of cryptographic hardware and software algorithms. Solutions with a FIPS 140-2 certificate are generally accepted as tested and formally validated by the U.S. and Canadian Governments. Additionally, FIPS 140-2 is has been widely adopted on a global basis in both government and commercial sectors as a security benchmark and best practice recognition.
“Ensuring the security of confidential and sensitive information is critically important to government and commercial entities alike. This is a responsibility that CipherLoc does not take lightly. We are founded on the principle that all information, whether in motion, in use, or at rest, should be protected with the highest-level security and encryption at all times – and we have been tested by some of the most advanced security organizations in the world to document that we are capable of meeting that goal, including the very government agencies now turning to us for solutions. Soon our Polymorphic Encryption Engine will take its rightful place as a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) validated cryptography solution, widely seen as a pinnacle certification and the natural next step for our products,” said Dr. Milton Mattox, Chief Operating Officer of CipherLoc Corporation.
More specifically, the U.S. government uses FIPS 140-2 certification when information systems use cryptography to protect sensitive government information. As part of the FIPS 140-2 certification process, cryptographic modules are subjected to rigorous testing by independent Cryptographic and Security Testing Laboratories, accredited by NIST. The test lab at COACT has been selected to perform the rigorous FIPS 140-2 testing required of CipherLoc’s Polymorphic Encryption Engine. COACT is an independent, internationally recognized organization with long-standing experience in providing independent verification and validation services.
