At 10% exporters are reported to have eaten the import tariff.

But trade and IP theft negotiations with China are making as little progress as Trump's 'negotiations' with North Korea. Businesses are already shifting their supply lines in anticipation of the next step to a 25% import tariff.

If Trump pushes for a "big win" now as his negotiator complain he's doing, the new trade agreement will be a nothing - similar to the nothing that is the replacement NAFTA agreement which merely increased trade quotas by 3% on various markets like dairy. A phony Trump agreement anytime in the next two months will merely kick the can down the road to someone who has more perseverance than the jumpy ferret-minded Trump who can't stay focused on anything longer than the attention span of a camera flash.

The Obama administration decided to treat IP theft as a criminal issue, but Trump decided to give away the store on the IP theft case against ZTE. Likely Trump is itching to fold on the Huawei criminal case as well, in order to walk away with a phony agreement he can tweet about.

The only problem with electing an unpredictable con man as president is he's both unpredictable and a con man. Apart for that, it's just basic-cable entertainment.

Donald Trump is the Kim Kardashian of politics.

We've run out of other people's Social Security taxes needed to subsidize our low income tax rates.
