I appreciate what you are saying, however, any step in between grabbing the gun and pulling the trigger could cost a life. Stopping for a finger print check, key, and/or anything other than just drawing and firing is endangering yourself.

If we are talking about the system being on a real vault or locker, I can see that would be handy for guns stored.

The safest system where kids are concerned is education, respect and proper parenting. However, it's the choice of individual, I grew up with guns, and so did many of my friends, none of us shot ourselves with their parents guns because we knew better to than to touch them. We also knew where they were, what they looked and felt like; forbidding things makes them even more enticing. I grew up here Portland, OR where guns were on racks in trucks, and schools had shooting programs, as did the scouts, and I haven’t lost a single friend to any gun accident.

Education and respect are cheaper and more useful then gun safes for self defense guns IMO. FWIW, all of my guns that I do not use for self defense are locked up, as well are my rifles and all of my ammunition, and I have no kids in the house, but still I protect them from use by others just in case.

One Big Gun Fan,

Gary
