Exactly. I suspect management was concerned about the overall market deteriorating and therefore pulled the trigger. As we all remember from 2008, when liquidity dries up, things can get ugly real quick especially for cash starved companies. In addition, the cash may give them more leverage if there are in fact discussions in the works. Yes a partnership would likely propel the stock in the short term but as you said, would likely cap the long term potential as well.
