From IEEE Session Chair RE: Cipherloc Claims

Email to Dr. Christian Trefftz, IEEE CCWC Cryptography Session Chair:

Hello Dr. Trefftz,

I was wondering if you could help clear up some confusion. You were the Session Chair for Cryptography at the recent IEEE CCWC conference. The group below (Booher, Cambou, Carlson, Philabaum) presented a paper on Dynamic Key Generation for Polymorphic Encryption. In this press release, irdirect.net/prviewer/release/id/3582971, Cipherloc Corporation claims that this group (and paper) was awarded "Best in Track". Below, you will see the list that I received from conference@ieee-ccwc.org that doesn't list this paper.

Can you shed some light on this?

Thank you for your time,

Email from Dr. Trefftz

I was indeed the chair for that session.
I remember that presentation, it was a good presentation.

I am aware of the "Best paper" awards in the conference, but I am not familiar with the "Best in Track" awards.
A colleague of mine, Dr. Nabeeh Kandalaft was the publication chair for the conference.
He might be able to clarify this.
Dr. Kandalaft e-mail's adddress is:
kandalan@gvsu.edu

The chair of each session fills forms with evaluations of each of the papers presented in that session.
But I was not part of the process beyond that point, hence I cannot talk about how the best papers were chosen or if the authors were notified about their paper being the best paper in the track. Perhaps that is equivalent to being a runner-up for one of the best paper awards in the conference. As I said, I am not part of the organizing committee, hence I cannot clarify this further.

Christian
