PENNSYLVANIA JUST CAME OUT OF NOWHERE

In a surprise reversal, Pennsylvania throws door wide open for industrial hemp production:

Here is a key excerpt:

In a surprising turn, Pennsylvania is throwing the door wide open for industrial hemp production — something the state, or the U.S. for that matter, has not seen since before World War II.

State Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding said Tuesday that Pennsylvania submitted a plan to the U.S. Department of Agriculture that allows for the full commercial production of industrial hemp.

The move follows the December passage of the new federal farm bill, which removed industrial hemp — cannabis plants with a near-zero amount of the chemical compound that gets you stoned — from regulation under the federal Controlled Substances Act.

At the time the new law was passed, the state agriculture department had a research-based plan for hemp underway, and, with no federal rules in place on how legalization would work, said it was too late to change course for 2019

But on Tuesday, Redding said Pennsylvania will reopen the 2019 program to include applications for commercial growing operations.

They are just the 2nd state — after Kentucky — to submit their 2019 plan for Hemp cultivation and processing to the USDA

This was a big surprise as they weren’t even expected to grow any significant amount of hemp until 2020

Another sign that the American Hemp Economy in 2019 is simply going to be too big to resist

Pennsylvania rushing to get on board the commercial hemp train in 2019?

Color me impressed
