Not that you wouldn't...but hold your stocks a little longer. The more I think about my previous "hypothetical" post the more I have convinced myself that MRMD and ACB are working on something behind the scenes. The recent MRMD stock climb happens to add a 9th reason to my theory list:
.....
Reason 1: Canopy just bought into the America hemp space. With Aurora being their closest competitor it forces their hand....and almost immediately because in order to keep up, and the fact that America is supposed to be where the cannabis profits are, you cant let them establish themselves. Get your foot in the American door, set up your business in hemp and then when marijuana is legal roll it out through the network you established.
Reason 2: It has to be a hemp company because marijuana is illegal at the federal level. Aurora is on the NYSE...it cant risk its listing status.
Reason 3: The COO from Aurora, Cam Battley, said himself that he wants to build his company to something significant before a major deal (like with Coke or Pepsi) because his company would be worth more then as opposed to now.
Reason 4: The convertible debenture it to be raised in US dollars, making the assumption that it a US acquisition, and the ask is 300 million.
Reason 5: Marimed Inc acquired GenCanna, supposedly the largest hemp manufacturer in the US. GenCanna produces high-quality hemp CBD, with fully legal sales throughout the U.S. and internationally.
Reason 6: Marimed conducts business across 6 states, and growing...that sure beats the 1 state of NY that Canopy acquired.
Reason 7: Aurora and Marimed were at a cannabis conference together, in Florida, on January 15th and 16th.
Reason 8: During that time (and just before Aurora asked for the convertible debenture) Marimed set its Hemp acquisition, GenCanna, up as a separate subsidiary....probably so a company like Aurora could partner with them and not risk the company's ties to the federally illegal, marijuana portfolio that it carries.
Reason 9: Since the announcement of its new subsidiary, Marimed stock has consistently gained even while other cannabis stocks...and the stock market...have declined.
