You could incorporate into a necklace or bracelet or at the least on a key ring I would think. I just don't think a national database is the way we will go as think of agreeing on how to secure all that data and access. Also think of the problems with agreeing what to include or exclude. Does the database include HIV treament meds, psychiatry meds and records. Would there be more limited access and separate database for that data, yet it would be pertinent at point of care for an ER visit. Also, how do you get the ER that uses an EMR from GE to connect with a cardiologist EMR from Allscripts and exchange data and updates. Long story short I don't ever see a national database of medical records for above reasons and others. What is best option going forward to get same access?IMO it is a product like the cyberkey. Also think about this one. HIPAA has created this hub bub about securing medical records. Ever see a chart on a door unattended when you go to the doctor? Couldn't someone walking by grab the chart and start flipping through it. What about a cyberkey as the 'chart' at a doctor's office. Would be much mroe secure and just as portable and a great backup even if they have a 'complete' EMR.
