They noted that 15 patients reported squeaking hips, which is an 11.4% prevalence.

I'd expect a higher prevalence if this where an issue with Ceramic on ceramic, but we've been over this.

Clearly we can minimize impingement by optimizing our implant position

We don't have a material problem we have a personnel problem. You get the same stripe wear from poor positioning with the PEEK liner except the stripe wear is inside the plastic cup and the issue is only silenced. The problems are increased plastic particulate and eventual plastic cup failure. Wasn't one of the articles posted of a guy that died of metallosis initially a failure of the PEEK liner that led to wear of the underlying materials?

due to mohs hardness peek produces the highest amount of wear particulate. One of the major advantages of SiNi femoral heads , I feel, is it's low production of wear particulate and that particulates resorbability. Throw in PEEK liner and SiNi loses it's edge here. H1 is being developed as ceramic on ceramic along side development of 3d surgical positioning so there has to be some truth here about the 8 year hold up is not about accidentally forgetting the PEEK liner. Definitely sounds like a bright idea move from the usual suspects to try to revise in a PEEK liner here.

2011 to 2019 to update the website and drop that "in development" AGAIN without a single update on development is a serious undeniable hold the phone moment. Possibly a catch 22 situation considering not saying anything isn't a solid improvement.(EDIT) forgot about the Zimmer PEEK liner update.

I think we're on the same page on titanium then. Still glad I broke it down to at least understand potentially why that stem failed and a potential underlying benefit of embrittlement inhibitor to SiNi coatings on titanium beyond antibacterial, osseo integration and foreign body response inhibitor .

"bioinert CrN/NbN coatings"

Sounds about right for Zimmer. I can find evidence of Zimmer funding research into this coating but not SiNi.
