Been there...I had grade 4 spondylolisthesis 23 years ago and had a 10 hour spinal fusion. 1 week in the hospital...4 weeks at home in a hospital bed...then 3 more months of limited activity and rehab. Luckily, I had a miracle worker as a surgeon and it was 100% successful. Full recovery....back to jogging, etc...a normal life.

My advice...don't hurry the recovery. Too many people screw up their recovery by going back to "normal" activity too soon. As far as pain meds...back then it was just Vicodin...lots of it! I had to go through withdrawal after the recovery...not fun!
