Daniel Reed Crenshaw (born March 14, 1984) is an American politician and former United States Navy SEAL officer serving as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 2nd congressional district since 2019. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected in the 2018 midterms
Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Crenshaw grew up in Katy, Texas. His mother died of cancer when he was ten years old. While his father worked in the oil industry, Crenshaw spent some time growing up in Ecuador and Colombia, gaining a proficiency in Spanish. Going to high school in Colombia, he played soccer.
Crenshaw graduated from Tufts University in 2006. He earned a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government in 2018 and worked as a military legislative assistant for Congressman Pete Sessions.
While at Tufts, he joined the Reserve Officers' Training Corps and was commissioned in the U.S. Navy after his graduation. He served in the Navy SEALs for ten years, including three tours of duty, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Crenshaw was a member of SEAL Team Three; and was based out of Coronado.
While serving in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan in 2012, he was injured by the detonation of an improvised explosive device; he lost his right eye and required surgery to save the vision in his left eye. After the injury, he was deployed to Bahrain and South Korea. As a Navy SEAL, he earned two Bronze Star Medals, the Purple Heart, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with valor. He was medically retired from military service in 2016.
THIS was the guy running for office with only one eye that SNL mocked and later had to issue an apology for even though Dan didn't want one.
I am jaded as well and don't throw compliments around about politicians very easily...but I LIKE Dan and he has become Robbies favorite politician as well...
I'm still not on board with Mr T 100%...but up until the wall I have liked what he's done...and honestly...I'm left wondering what the heck he is waiting for...I don't want to see an amnesty deal...he needs to get the wall built...now...declare a National emergency...he can now claim he has tried to get the Dems approval...he has them on record saying they will NOT fund it...you want the support of the people???...put those Angel family's up in front of the people...they don't have to tell a story...just have a picture of their son, daughter or spouse that was killed by an illegal held in front of them...when the camera comes to them...state the name of the victim and who killed them...let the Nancy and Chuckie show dispute that in front of the Americans...the wall is only the start...we need immigrant reform...better tools at the entry points...more security people and NO catch and release. NEITHER side wants any of this ...THAT'S the real reason it isn't getting done...just political rhetoric...JMO...and now off my soapbox.
