OT: most likely to surprise

IMO, the two races with the greatest potential to surprise the pundits and polls ... the RI and MD Senate races. Chafee was written off much too soon -- I think he wins and retains that seat. A Steele win in Maryland would be the biggest news of the night for shock value. No idea how that shakes out. But then again, I don't think anyone does, including the pollsters who've lost any ability to measure this one. Blacks voting for Steele, IMO, are far more likely to lie about their voting intentions than than the background variance. Pollsters have no idea how to factor.

Personally, I've registered my prayer for the CA-11th where there's a toss-up race that could potentially purge Congress of the cretin Richard Pombo. Hoping Chris Shays holds his seat in CT-4 -- one of the smartest and most decent/honorable guys I dealt with in Congress. Hard to believe J.D. Hayworth is in a toss-up race in AZ-5. Only further confirms AZ is a state to watch.

p.s. did I mention how much I hope Pombo gets bounced out on his ass? smile
