Tim passed away a few weeks back. He posted here a few times so I decided to let you know.

Tim was a brilliant engineer with lots of warts. He was part of the founding blood of Intel, and the kind of guy that would never make it in the Intel of today.

Alan, thanks for letting us know.

I had exchanged some posts with him a few years back just before he quit this board imploring him to explore why he had such extreme racist views (which his obituary mentions at least twice).

I can understand people having such views due to ignorance and fear. It boggled and continues to boggle me that a brilliant and intelligent mind like his couldn't decipher the fact that his thinking was irrational - and, more importantly, was causing him great and unnecessary frustration. Such is the workings of the mind.

Anyways, RIP Tim May.
