KL was originally going down Lake Shore shaft #5 to explore.

I've been reading through the old FoxPoint (precursor to KL Gold)
quarterlies, from when they first bought the Kirkland Lake township
properties, in 2001/2002.
The original plan was to re-start Macassa, then to use that to fund
their primary exploration effort, in which they planned to go down
Lake Shore mine's shaft #5.
Then, in 2004/5, Stewart Carmichael's team discovered
the South Mine Complex, a 20-degree-dipping ore body deep in
Macassa....and KL shifted it's exploration funding to the SMC.

I mention this to reiterate that there is a LOT of known,
1/2 ounce/ton and higher, ore, deep in the Lake Shore Mine,
the Wright-Hargreaves mine, and the other
historic mines of Kirkland Lake township.
KL Gold owns them all.

LSM & W-H were running 15-20 grams/ton and higher head grade, when
closed in the early 1960s, and exploration
showed no end to the rich ore.

Further, the SMC may continue on up to the east,
under these other mines, and in fact may be
'feeder' to those mines.

The historic mines of Kirkland Lake township primarily mined on
the "Main Break", a steep 65-degree-dipping structure.

The South Mine Complex breaks off from the Main Break, with a much
shallower 20-degree dip angle, and bridges
the Main Break & the Amalgamated Break.

I am hoping, and betting, that KL finds more
"Swans" at Fosterville.
But keep in mind that KL already HAS what is effectively
equal to more "Swans" in Kirkland Lake township.
Macassa is currently passing 5 million ounces
averaging 20 g/t, reserves and resources;
ounces who's extraction cost Makuch recently estimated
would rival the low cost that Fosteville was running
at the time (approx $200/ounce cash cost), once
the 4000 t/day shaft #4
'superhighway' from ore to mill is built.

Even at today's $7B market cap, this company is a monster.
