Below are just some of the 1.6K comments.
I think they are worth reading.

Depending on how you grew up?
Parents?
Grand Parents?
Where you lived?

It will mean differently to you all but I think if you are old enough you'll relate to much of it and hopefully get you to think about the so called progress as they call it.

When you see me going off on another rant about big pharma, medical community, our government, corporations, etc hopefully this will give you another perspective why I do ...................

Melanie Rogers
Melanie Rogers Would anyone out there 65 or older concur that our food was not overly processed, that it was more natural and contained less additives. Our mum's cooked from scratch baked goods typically not out of the box. It made for a well rounded childhood. Am not romanticing but more time outdoors was the norm too.

Ada Bosisto Totally agree Melanie we grew our vegetables had fruit trees in our yard no takeaway all healthy food not processed with all the additives added - fruit is tasteless as its not fresh by the time we get it plus there was "no use by date" or "best before date" how on earth did we survive - we were healthy!!

Vicki Kehr
Vicki Kehr I agree! There were NO preservatives in our food “back in the day”, and we ate homemade food not out of a box! Our food back then was what today we call organic, naturally grown and preserved. Organis Organic is not a new concept, it was the norm. My grandfather farmed 90+acres of his own land, there were no pesticides, no chemicals Not to mention, what he grew was NOT genetically modified (GMO). They say we live longer today, but what is the quality of life when we need a box full of meds because of all the illness from the toxic crap in our food and water and air???

Melanie Rogers Vicki Kehr I am in Canada but have you heard of people getting sick from bacteria on lettuce cucumbers etc. I do not recall anyone getting I'll on vegetables or fruit. Many 65+'s also born during or shortly after WWII when rationing was the norm. Still the food we had was pretty nutritious. My dad remembers drippings on bread were one of my favourites was fried bread done in bacon grease. Lol

Melanie Rogers To everyone who responded am so amazed that so many of us agree with one another. Next question...how do we get back to these times? Do we convince current and upcoming generations to get back to when food was "real" and not "scary"....or can more of us get back to growing our own patch and co-ordinating with neighbour's to trade our different varieties? Can it be done???

Melanie Rogers Rick Jones it's ok Rick. Mom's did whatever was necessary to make sure kids were ok. My mum was lucky enough to be a stay at home mum but when my turn came I worked 3 jobs to raise my 3 children as a single parent. Just like my mum I was very adept at stretching my weekly food budget.
