yep some brokers, will not allow trading until shares are settled

happened to me years ago, not a good feeling when you see a stock go up in front of your eyes but cant sell... could work out if the price goes really high, and one that would have sold earlier, is now forced to hold, and makes alot more profits

you can buy no problem, but some brokers dont allow selling until settlement


I do remember ETRADE being one back then that allowed trading, I was told they would front their client's shares they knew where coming in... others wont until they are settled in your account


this is one of the downfalls of symbol changes, splits, etc

on the positive side, the restricted SELLING can also be good for the stock price, as there are that many less shares in circulation


TDAmeriTURD is one of the brokers I have and have had settlement restrictions in the past
