CBDD....not true...no someone, but something...called a Market Maker..a large brokerage house. The go long, they go short and have a oftn large inventory of active stocks. They also trade between houses to control the price. There real job is to maintain a stable market and filing orders. They at times short the crap out of a dying stock and if it dies quick enough..no market...they never have to cover their shorts because they can't get the shares anymore to deliver....Years ago I watched one (face blacked out and voice changed) tell the whole story and said they made more money shorting than going long and trading that year...a lot of subbers got delisted and had no market value...just shown in my portfolio now with a CUSIP#..not name, followed by 0000. It is not joe trader swapping shares with just another Joe trader. I had a cool discount broker in Washington who would keep me on the line as he called several MM's to find me the best price. They don't 'make a market' in every stock but MM know who is active with what you want. I was licensed long ago to sell Mutual Funds and OTC stock for the large ins company I was with. I also got a gold mine in So CA listed to go public under what the called 'Reg A'...We could only have a limited number of share holders and raise no more than like 2 or 5 mil dollars, I forget. I still have my pretty certs I got as a 'founder'...we also could give some to a broker who would help us sell shares.
