It seems some are conflating the terms abuse and addiction. They are not the same. I can take my Percocet exactly as indicated on the bottle and still become addicted; likewise, I can crush and snort every Percocet in the bottle and never become addicted. You do not have to abuse opioids in order to become dependent, and many abusers are not addicts.
