“The UCLA-developed technology avoids the alignment and dispersion issues that limit the performance of free-space optical links”...,
IMO this says it all. There are huge challenges with FSO links which I believe DD indicated Mynaric is trying to overcome with additional photodiode tech from Leti. ABWN basically has moved that project to a wait n see/uncertain status if we read between the lines in PR. I suppose they’ve known about challenges for most of year...
Meanwhile, the UCLA tech is interesting and could quickly overcome FSO issues with air-air connectivity.. with a hitch.. Terahertz frequency attenuates thru atmosphere so has UCLA had a breakthrough in link distance and can the signal be boosted to the point of usability over many many kilometers???
Either way there feels like a JV or partnership could be in the works for this technology.. hell something should be signed before they go test and demo and I would not be surprised some VC funding for this research and tech. Other applications seem to be alluded to in recent PR..
Been in OTC a long time and seen Jan 2 flip more than just the calendar many times. Sentiment changes on a dime in OTC world. Gonna nibble here during the holidays... GLTU.
