I don't know how such an initial drilling works. But doesn't it mean, that now they got some results, the know where the bests spots are in general, and then will do some more drilling around these hot spots, to find out where the boundaries are, so that they can conclude a little more accurate how much gold there is?
It seems to me that averaging these results, is like averaging one spot where there might be a hell of a lot gold, with spots where there is next to nothing? That doesn't sound like a good way to calculate the amount of gold. For that, it seems more likely that one would first try to find out how large these spots are. I don't think you can do so by drilling just one hole and hit a vein by chance.
The only thing we know now, and that seems great to me, is that there is gold that seems worth mining.

Like I've said, I don't know too much about drilling, so maybe I got it all wrong.
