Not so Fast on Facial ID for All

BIO-Key’s VST technology is focused on fingerprint reading and converting the images to templates that can then be compared/searched to a larger base of records to find matches. So it competes with facial, Iris, voice etc.

But their WEB-key solution is biometric agnostic - it’s really a patented method for securely sending biometric data to a server/cloud (for a comparison) and then securely sending back the response. It can work with really any biometric file, as far as I know, and could play an important role in cloud authentication using biometrics – whatever type that may be.

Also, with multi-factor authentication, it's not likely that any one method will gain 100% acceptance and market share. It's more likely that facial, iris, voice, fingerprint and perhaps others will have their role/share.
