So I was the one who were wrong about the ex-date?

You still are. I have explained it quite a few times how it works for distributions > 25% of the share price.

There is one happening right now. PDRX. Pay date is today. Record date passed a couple of weeks ago. Ex-date is TOMORROW. This one was announced by FINRA before the Record Date. But they didn't have to. Watch what will happen tomorrow. It should drop by $2.20, which is the dividend they are paying. But I'm not so sure... could be a good trade. Unfortunately I don't have any money as usual. If you read the press release from the company, it appears they don't have a clue about the ex-date either.

So this is what should have happened for SIAF. FINRA should have announced the ex-date a couple of days before the pay-date, one day at the latest. But something went wrong. We were very unlucky. And yes, the people who had already sold were simply lucky.
