yes.I follow tom bowley blog on stock charts for couple of years now and his analysis and charts are very good, very simple and easy to understand. he says how to tell whether its bull or bear market based on vix. he shows vix never goes below 16 in bear markets.that is the simplest as it gets. ofcourse bear markets have hard rallies too. i watched this whole year when vix above 16 big moves up and down and unpredictable.
