It created no value and now they're confronted with a situation where they MAY have to do a R/S to get the stock back to an acceptable level. Moreover, they obtained no cash in the process, which they desperately need.
They should have focused on growing the market cap and then could have issued some shares to raise cash. Yes, there would have been some dilution but that's inevitable.
Really poor corporate finance strategy. Surprised no one called them out for that on the earnings call.
