Isaiah thanks for the excellent explanation but my real question is about how does CISCO fit into the BPL/PLC picture? I have asked this before but got back comments without knowledge of what CISCO really is as a company. You seem to have the perspective that I was looking for.
My CISCO thoughts may be totally wrong but some earlier comments on this board about home theater and computer networks with TKO technology (no more wires) got me thinking about all of the networking gear that clutters up the office, buildings, Govt reservations etc... No more need for CAT5 wiring, bridges, hubs, routers,etc... That's what CISCO does. This won't happen overnight but as office networks need upgrading eventually people will migrate to PLC and electrical outlets it just makes economic sense. A cleaner(a lot less clutter), more secure, a lot less moving parts(less maintenance and mysterious breakdowns that you need a staff to fix), and a whole lot cheaper(less expensive CISCO equipment and expensive CISCO certified techs) way to network a business. TKO also provides a very good wireless system they are demonstrating in Manhattan NY Trump Plaza I believe. I think its more like a Metropolitan Area Network(covers whole blocks). I am not a network guy by any means and my thinking may be totally wrong, but that's why I waned to ask someone who was more network savy than myself. Cisco is going to want a piece of this or even the whole thing. Thats how they operate by acquisition of existing companies. I fear that if RP and the coorporate greybeards don't get off their yaughts and appease Wall Street and Investment Houses they will have this stolen from them by someone like CISCO. That affects us because we will not get to realize our full share potential. Maybee this is RP's plan thus the silence and lack of care about stockholders. His only comment about all of this was on June 19 I believe when he half heartedly commented about the share price. GO FIGURE...
