I don't claim to be an expert in the field. The ole gal was headed down a steep levy, moving towards the water. The plan was to let her pass, then come in from behind. It's just easier to draw up the game plan, then it was to execute.
It was actually a stupid idea, I just reacted. Even if I would have caught the dang thing from behind and had a perfectly safe grip? I was a good mile and a half from my truck, with nothing but a fishing rod and a little tackle. There was no way I could have done anything with that turtle. What makes a person do stupid stuff like that?
You know what? It was fun, and those are the things a person remembers. Kind of like a wedding. Plan and practice all they want. A perfect wedding is boring, it's the goof ups that we all enjoy and remember.
I've still got 9 3/4 of my fingers left. I remember how I lost the 1/4 too.
