interesting to note I can't find evidence of Blackstone medical, a private company, being officially affiliated with The Blackstone Group L.P.

However.

2007-Blackstone, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, TPG Capital and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners acquired Biomet, a medical device manufacturer for $10.9 billion.

That's a healthy profit of est. 2.5 billion and possibly explains where blackstone group took a large ZBH position. provided this was 100% stock(it wasn't). They could have potentially turned this 2.5 billion into 3.6 playing the cards right on the ZBH ticker. However I think they are holding their ZBH position.
