Yes, the human animal. When we forget we are a component part of the natural system and step so far out it becomes an existential threat. Yes, "too late" for low tech, conservationist "back to the land" en mass. Collectively (another word for Humans ;) we need to get really aggressive with the kind of endeavor Legends is pursuing with Algae technologies. Honey Bees are the world's #1 pollinator - amongst other things for human food!, huge decline by human behavior like habitat loss through industrial/chemical farming. Look at a satellite view of the various farm belts once natural grasslands. Hardly a ditch safe haven for da lowly wild flower. You can hear it in songs from "The Voice of Hawaii" like the one's played from "Facing Future".
Algae has some incredible properties; how fast and easy it is to grow, big protein content (amongst others) that can be used to make bioplastics and food.
