What if...right now...your cell phone rang and you answered and it was a family member and they were in great need of something...they needed help...im guessing you would drop everything and get to them as fast as possible...right? And if that cell phone rang right now and it was a good friend...the same circumstances...you most likely would react the same way...and drop what you are doing and go to them. Well...what if right now that same cell phone rang and it was a family member or friend...and they told you that someone that you dont even know...or kinda sorta know...and they needed help right now...what would your reaction be? Would you hem-and-haw about it...would you have to think on it...would you have to weigh your options...think of an excuse...or...would you drop everything and go to reach out and help a stranger in need? I ask this because im thinking...most everyday we see people that are in need in some way...shape or form...maybe in desperate need...and what do we actually do to help them? Here we are in November just a week away from Thanksgiving and the weather is starting to get winter like. What better time to evaluate ourselves in doing for others even though the need is year round. Do we know anyone that needs food...needs firewood for heat...needs a decent coat..needs a ride...the list is endless on what so many people need...basic needs to survive. What have we done this past week...month...to help someone in need? Now...lets flip the coin over...what have we done to help someone that we know that has spiritual needs...they are unsaved. Have we talked about Jesus to them...have we ask them if we can pray with them...have we invited them to church...have we told them how Jesus can change their life? We talk about letting the light of Jesus shine from us unto others...just how are we actually doing that?..or...is that just a warm and fuzzy thing we like to say...think about it.
