Election 2018: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

By Ray DiLorenzo
(h/t to Seminole Red)

For many of my friends and acquaintances, the election was not what it could have been. I agree, but It was not even close to the blue wave the Democrats had predicted. It was more like a ripple. Interestingly, most Republicans that did not support the President lost re-election, including the once rising star from Utah, Mia Love. We have good, bad, and ugly possibilities. Let's look at what did and could happen:

* Pray Nancy Pelosi becomes Speaker of the House - Pelosi will call for unity to win re-election as Speaker, but will do the opposite in short order. Her San Francisco values and hunger for power will get the better of her. Pelosi can be very inarticulate at times and never misses an opportunity to say something dumb. For Nancy Pelosi to suddenly become reasonable and practical would require a total metamorphosis.

* Democrats had to put forward many moderate candidates in red states in order to have a chance at winning. Those who won could prove to be a pain-in-the-butt for Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat leadership. There could be much in-fighting between these moderates and the numerous entrenched Marxists.

* To millions of voters, Pelosi, along with the likes of Maxine Waters, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be the face of the Democrat Party and the House of Representatives. The Democratic Party will continue to move to the left and alienate more and more Americans. The Left will persist in being offended by absolutely everything. They will raise the bar on violence and test to see what they can get away with, which has been considerable thus far. The culture war will continue, attacking everything they hate, especially Christianity, capitalism, and white men. This will add to the ever-present annoyance and alarm of the nation. They will continually accuse the Republicans of doing what they do routinely. The Democrats will do what they always do...go too far!

* The Democrat base and the media will push the Party to resist the Trump administration. The Democrat Party has shown itself to be at the beck and call of its base, Hollywood included, crazy as much of it is. The Party will be forced or pushed by its base to not work with Republicans. Instead of compromise, they will demand resistance at every turn. Pelosi will lead the House, with goading from Schumer, into a standoff with the President, getting nothing accomplished except resistance. If the Democrat leadership does not respond, and when the base realizes they have gained nothing by barely controlling the House, much of the Left will resort to violence...an ugly, but very real possibility.

* The House will try to impeach President Trump and/or Justice Kavanaugh. Their hatred for these men is immeasurable. They will initiate and bury the Trump administration in numerous investigations, demand to see Trump's tax returns, throw subpoenas around like candy, but it will work against them and never get past the House or the Senate. They will find nothing on Trump, but will make up fictional stories as they did with Kavanaugh.

* We now have a more conservative Senate where Supreme Court Justices are confirmed. At least one, maybe two more Justices will be picked in the next 2 - 6 years. This will have a momentous effect on the direction of the country. The Supreme Court affects the future of the nation more than any other branch. The next Supreme Court nominee by President Trump will result in violence by the Left.

* All newly elected Senators are Trump supporters. It will make the Senate a more powerful conservative force. They will be loyal to the Trump agenda, ready to help drain the swamp.

* The House may try to raise taxes. It will never get past the Senate. They will be checked-mated at every turn.

* Democrats will be voted out of the House majority in two years. When it is seen that the House of Representatives has accomplished nothing except resistance and more investigations of their political enemies, they will again be voted out of the majority.

* President Trump will win re-election in 2020 along with achieving a Republican majority House and Senate bringing a real possibility of rioting from the Left.

I am not attempting to prophesy, but merely glance into the immediate future based on assumptions and impressions. I've watched the political process for many years and find that Democrats have proven to be predictable and consistent. They have shown themselves to have no platform that they care to advertise, lest they lose the support of any in the political middle still remaining in their party or other potential allies. At this juncture, the destruction of who they see as their enemy is their only goal. I believe it is going to get ugly.
