So here's the answer !
A current bid and ask price more accurately reflects what price you can get in the marketplace right now, while the last price shows what price orders have filled at in the past there is no guarantee the same price will be Bid or Asked next time around, even within seconds of the last traded price. Sellers often look at a Bid price and decide what to offer as do Sellers deciding on a sales price.
However if you buy or sell at Market you will get the price asked for at the time the order is placed, ie a high buy price or a low sell price, that is why an order will fill quickly and a limit order can take all day or never be filled.
On the big boards the Spread is normally between 1 cent and 1.5 cents however on the OTC which has less regulations the spread will fluctuate to what the bidder and seller can get for a stock hence LEX has at times had a bigger spread. The perception that there are less shares for sale will demand a higher price is also a myth, because it will depend how desperate a seller wants to sell.
And lastly when you see a transaction of 50 to 100 shares changing hands for peanuts, it is an attempt to increase or decrease the overall price. And yes there are short sellers on Lex but as most traders don't recognize anything under $5 it often goes unseen...
