would have expected a press release if they're going to announce earnings Thursday


Why? They didn't issue a PR of the cash dividend policy separately, but announced it with the Q1-report. Same thing this time - no PR before the Q3-report, but they might (and should) announce it in the Q3-report (well, they should have PRed it when they messed-up the TRW-distribution)
