Lang you have a warped sense of history

Two names are responsible for Apples failure to produce a Modern Operating and none end with the last name Jobs. Michael Spindler and Gil Amelio. At least Amelio was smart enough to buy Jobs Next's Open Step as a basis for what is now known as OS X.

It was the rift between Motorola and IBM that delayed the development of more advanced Power PC Risc processors. In the end Motorola's Altivec has proven to be extremely valuable to APPLE, thats why the IBM 970 adopted a similar Vector processor. Many new developments in processor design and manufacturing also contributed to the numerous delays but that is ancient history.

Apple has a 64 bit processor with 32 bit backwards compatability now. This puts APPLE ahead of Intel in the CPU marketplace with the lone exception of AMD. Would this have happened without Steve Jobs ... I don't think so.

Altaire4 .... Go
