Looks like your question was answered, but let me add that there are authorized shares (A/S) which is what can be released for retail sale (you are a retail buyer/ seller) as opposed to market maker purchasing and selling. Out of the A/S the company can decide how much to release to the market. That is the float. Float is usually less than A/S. Very low here so that when demand hits buyers will have to pay higher and higher because there just are not that many shares available.
