Former Mercia, SAGA, Smooth Radio and BBC radio presenter Jeff Harris has died this morning (Wednesday).
Fab FM, a station he helped to launch in recent years, has paid tribute on its Facebook page, saying:
“It is with great sadness that we announce that Jeff Harris, a founder of FAB FM passed away this morning. Jeff was a great broadcaster and a great friend to many people who will be feeling the loss today. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”
Jeff has worked in radio in the Midlands since joining Mercia in 1981. He stayed there for 12 years before moving to Leicester Sound in 1994 where he was Operations & Presentation Manager.
He worked for Classic Gold as Brand Manager and Presenter from 1995 to 2002 before moving to SAGA / Smooth Radio West Midlands in 2001. He stayed till 2008 then went on to work for BBC Local Radio.
For the past few years, he’s been presenting at Radio FAB FM – a digital station he helped set up in 2014.
