A Jupiter man, who for years backed local wrestling, pleaded guilty Monday to a single felony in connection with a wide-ranging national steroid ring investigation
Joseph Raich, 44, avoided jail by pleading guilty to a conspiracy charge, agreeing to pay $200,000 restitution and continue cooperating with the Albany, N.Y., district attorney prosecuting the case in exchange for five years probation. He faced 28 counts of illegally selling human growth hormones and steroids for his role as co-owner of Palm Beach Rejuvenation, a wellness clinic.
In addition, District Attorney P. David Soares announced Monday that another clinic employee was charged.
Ryan Dumas, 31, of Palm Beach Gardens, faces 28 charges of illegal distribution of controlled substances. He was listed as the clinic's medical director even though he had no medical training, said Christopher Baynes, chief of the district attorney's financial crimes bureau, who is handling the prosecution of the case.
