Why would the algos focus on driving the stock from $1 to 50 cents, when they could make much more money drivng the stock from $1 to $30?

I'll buy Algos causing it to overshoot or undershoot 10%. I wont buy that the plunge from $30 (or $27) to 50 cents was due to manipulation

algo trading is about making tenths of a cent on market inefficiencies, not tanking a stock from $27 to 50 cents

You have to ask yourself, "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do you short punk?
