The effect you mentioned dominates price movements on a day to day basis in the absence of substantial news events that affect the fundamentals. This is particularly noticeable in OTC land where there is minimal institutional investor participation.

On the positive side, when the catalysts like a financing package and recapitalization hit, the upside move will be significant.
