3-5 years is good for bonds now. I've had Vanguard Short Term and Vanguard Intermediate Term muni bond funds for ages

I hear virtually nothing about convertibles these days (which might be good for new buyers).

Read my post about that letter to the SEC about the Cornerstone Funds (CLM and CRF) which have been free-falling lately. I've always considered Cornerstone to be gimmicky junk with sucker "distributions" loaded with ROC, and a capital structure requiring frequent inscrutable rights offerings [ROs]. That Cornell-educated hedge fund manager termed them "essentially a publicly traded Ponzi Scheme!" His 16-page letter was written in 2012 but is still relevant. Was glad to read where he was bothered by almost every shortcoming I've spotted in them. Plus he added a few gripes of this own!
